East Northamptonshire Council was awarded funding to investigate the potential for setting up a Neighbourhood Planning service through the Department of Communities and Local Government’s ‘Neighbourhood Planning and Local Planning Service Redesign and Capacity Building Pilot Programme’. Planit-X was chosen to support the research programme working alongside Northamptonshire ACRE.
Planit-X completed a similar study for Charnwood Borough Council in Leicestershire which examined the progress of neighbourhood planning in the Borough. Based on interviews with representatives of seven communities that were known to be actively engaged in the neighbourhood plan process, we looked at the progress they are making and the challenges they face. The report helped Charnwood Borough Council understand how neighbourhood planning is progressing in the Borough so that it can meet its duty to provide advice and assistance to communities that are producing plans.
